Over the years the term "Feminist" has earned a bit of a bad rep. The term has been used to describe women who "hate" men and are bra burners. A few more myths include:
1. Feminists are supposed to defy tradition
Feminism is all about choosing what to do in your life. Whether its follow tradition or defy said tradition it is all about the choice.
2. Feminism only benefits women
Men are essential to feminism too! It benefits them as feminism seeks equality between both sexes. That includes paternity leave!
3. Feminism is not needed anymore
Yes. Women are able to vote, drive, and maintain a career but there is still so much to do. The wage gap is real. No to mention, not every women has the same rights as they would in he US. This fight represents all women.
4. All feminists reject femininity and marriage
Plenty of feminists embrace femininity and wish to marry in their lives. Plenty pf feminists are already married!
Here is the truth. Feminism is not a bad word. It's a term that seeks equality not just between gender but of those of different classes and sexual orientations. With its bad rep, people tend to shut down anything a feminist may way to say. But you support equal pay right? Then we are on the same side. Feminism is for everyone to support!
